In a significant move aimed at empowering local retailers, uplifting communities, and contributing to substantial economic growth, International Breweries Plc has introduced the “Growing Retailers Innovatively Together” (GRIT) initiative.
Nicholas Kade, Sales Director at IBPLC, highlighted that this transformative program embodies the company’s core values and unwavering commitment. It recognizes the pivotal role played by local retailers, often serving as the primary point of contact for valued consumers.
Kade explained the essence of the Retailer Development Program, which is meticulously designed to cater to the specific needs of retailers. The program seeks to be a beacon of empowerment, knowledge, and growth. By offering comprehensive training in critical areas like financial management, stock management, marketing, sales, and responsible retailing, IBPLC aims to equip retailers with essential tools to not only survive but thrive in an ever-evolving market landscape.
Herman Franken, Route Marketing Director at IBPLC, emphasized that GRIT is a meticulously crafted initiative aimed at empowering retailers, aligning with the core principle that “we thrive when our communities thrive.” The program’s foundation rests on three fundamental pillars: business skills, financial inclusion, and infrastructure. These essentials form the basis of a comprehensive and holistic approach to retailer empowerment. Franken stressed the importance of adaptability in Nigeria’s dynamic business landscape and the need to equip retailers to respond effectively to market volatility. Retailers will have access to a variety of learning experiences, blending digital, classroom, and real-life training to not just survive but grow.
Ayokanmi Ayoba, Country Program Director at TechnoServe, highlighted the organization’s commitment to working with enterprising individuals in developing countries to foster growth in individuals, markets, industries, and banks. TechnoServe’s involvement in the initiative includes training trainers with cutting-edge retail strategies and insights in a rapidly evolving landscape. The goal is to empower retailers with the tools, knowledge, and skills needed to thrive in a competitive market, all achieved through the Retailers Development Program in collaboration with IBPLC.
Ogunaike Ayodapo, the Commercial Officer II of Small and Medium Enterprises Development of Nigeria (SMEDAN), representing the Director General of the association, Dr. Wale Fasanya, expressed appreciation for IBPLC’s initiative. He noted that the program aligns with SMEDAN’s mandate to develop and grow SMEs in Nigeria. Ayodapo expressed confidence that the training provided would enhance retailers’ capacity and sales margins, ultimately leading to a positive impact on communities and the economy as a whole.
