Impact Hub Urges Nigerian Entrepreneurs to Embrace Innovation for SDGs
Share

Impact Hub, a non-profit organization dedicated to building entrepreneurial communities, has called on entrepreneurs to adopt innovative approaches to help Nigeria achieve the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) by 2030.

During a media conference in Abuja, Co-Founder and Chief Executive Olalekan Oshunkoya announced the rebranding of Impact Central Social Innovation Hub to Impact Hub Global. He emphasized the hub’s commitment to SDGs one, five, eight, nine, 16, and 17, which focus on future work and entrepreneurship for job creation.

Key Points from the Conference:

– Nigeria’s Development Challenges: Oshunkoya highlighted Nigeria’s unique and complex development challenges, stating that the hub aims to build a community uniting individuals to explore and implement innovative ideas.

– Goals of the Hub: The hub focuses on addressing inequality, alleviating poverty, expanding economic and political opportunities, tackling corruption, and fostering transformational leadership.

– Global Network: The rebranding aims to connect local entrepreneurs to a broader global community. Impact Hub now links Abuja to over 110 hubs, 300,000 members across 67 countries, and 1,200 impact makers, providing local entrepreneurs with access to global resources and connections.

Impact Hub’s Vision:

– Community for Social Good: Oshunkoya envisions a community of ambitious thinkers committed to leveraging entrepreneurship for social good and contributing to a better world through transformative innovation.

– Engagement and Programs: The hub plans to engage students, tech entrepreneurs, non-profit leaders, SMEs, and consultants to address Nigeria’s development challenges. Programs offered include the Social Impact Academy, Community Impact Accelerator Fellowship, Entrepreneur in Residence, and the SDGs Action Lab.

Strategic Rebranding:

– Locally Rooted, Globally Connected: The rebranding marks a significant milestone, reinforcing Impact Hub’s role as a locally grounded, globally connected community of impact entrepreneurs, leaders, and changemakers.

– Alignment with SDGs: The community includes advocates for the UN SDGs, and all members must align their work with achieving these goals.

By fostering innovation and global connections, Impact Hub aims to create a supportive environment for entrepreneurs to develop impactful ideas and contribute to Nigeria’s progress towards the SDGs.
