Interswitch and FSI Train 100 Nigerians in Software Testing Programme
Share

Interswitch and Financial Services Innovators (FSI) have successfully trained 100 young Nigerians in software testing through the FSI Intensive Software Testing Programme. This initiative, sponsored by Interswitch, underscores its commitment to fostering innovation and empowering talent in Nigeria’s tech ecosystem.

The participants, including university students, emerging innovators, and tech enthusiasts, completed an intensive eight-week online program designed to equip them with critical skills in software quality assurance. The training aimed to address industry demands, bridging the gap between academia and the financial services sector.

The program was implemented through FSI’s Fintech Development and Advocacy Initiative, a platform dedicated to advancing financial services innovation in Nigeria. It offered hands-on, practical training tailored to real-world market needs.

Speaking on the initiative, Muyiwa Asagba, Managing Director of Digital Commerce and Merchant Acquiring at Interswitch Group, said, “Innovation thrives when young minds are given the tools to succeed. By investing in these talents and providing them with practical, industry-relevant skills, we are nurturing a generation of innovators who will shape the future of financial services in Nigeria and beyond.”

Participants gained practical expertise in software testing, enhancing their readiness for Nigeria’s growing technology landscape. Notably, five top-performing participants were awarded internships, providing real-world experience and a competitive edge in their careers.

Executive Director of FSI, Aituaz Kola-Oladejo, praised the program’s impact, stating, “We empowered 100 youths, 90% of whom are tertiary students, through our eight-week course. This training equips young people with the tools they need to thrive in technology-driven careers, enhancing employability and global competitiveness.”

This collaboration underscores Interswitch’s role as a catalyst for innovation in Africa’s financial services landscape. By championing initiatives like the Intensive Software Testing Programme, the company is not only fostering a digitally inclusive future but also positioning itself as a leader in driving technological advancement and nurturing the next generation of African innovators.
