The Katsina State Government, in collaboration with the Enterprise Development Centre (EDC) of Pan-Atlantic University, Lagos, is set to launch a free entrepreneurial training program targeting 10,000 young women aged 18-35 across the state.
The initiative, organized under the Katsina State Enterprise Development Agency (KASEDA), was formalized through a Memorandum of Understanding signed with the Enterprise Development Centre Lagos. It is part of the state’s commemoration of “International Women’s Day” observed annually in March.
Hajiya Aisha Aminu, the Director General of KASEDA, disclosed this during a press briefing held in Katsina on Friday. She emphasized that the program aims to promote inclusion and foster economic growth and development among women in the state.
The objectives of the initiative include mindset transformation, management capacity development, and stakeholder engagement. Hajiya Aisha expressed confidence in the program’s ability to empower the selected women to realize their full potential.
The participants in the program will be selected from all 34 Local Government Areas of the State. The training is scheduled to commence next month, April 2024, with a capacity development session for the Management and Staff of the agency. The training for the young women entrepreneurs will kick off in May 2024.
This initiative underscores the state government’s commitment to promoting entrepreneurship and gender equality, providing young women with the skills and resources they need to succeed in business and contribute to the economic development of Katsina State.
