Lagos Empowers 3,000 Officers with Innovation and Leadership Skills
Share

The Lagos State Government has reaffirmed its commitment to building a smart, agile, and future-ready workforce by training over 3,000 officers in innovation and leadership competencies during the second and third quarters of 2025.

The training programmes, facilitated by the Ministry of Establishments and Training, focused on equipping public servants with modern leadership tools and innovative approaches critical to effective service delivery in a rapidly evolving governance landscape.

In a statement released on Monday, the Ministry said more than 20 training programmes were carried out, covering strategic areas such as transformational leadership, fostering a culture of creativity and innovation in the workplace, data-driven decision-making in the public sector, and leveraging talent development for the next public service.

The Commissioner for Establishments and Training, Afolabi Ayantayo, described the initiative as a testament to the state government’s commitment to strengthening human capital through continuous capacity development.

He noted that the training was not only enhancing technical proficiency but also fostering innovation-driven thinking and proactive leadership across all Ministries, Departments, and Agencies.

According to Ayantayo, the programmes are designed to empower officers with the leadership mindset and innovation capabilities required to meet the complex demands of modern public service. He added that a well-trained and inspired workforce remains the cornerstone of sustainable development.

The Permanent Secretary of the Ministry, Olubusola Abidakun, echoed the sentiment, highlighting the positive feedback received from participants. She said the blend of specialised training and soft skills had translated to improved job performance and inter-agency collaboration.

The Ministry also noted that a new phase of training programmes is scheduled for the fourth quarter, commencing in October. “These sessions will consolidate the gains already recorded and introduce fresh learning areas that respond to the evolving demands of public service delivery,” the statement said.
