Federal lawmaker Kayode Akiolu, representing Lagos Island II Federal Constituency, has distributed essential tools such as deep freezers, sewing machines, and computers to women, youths, and schools in his constituency. This initiative is part of Akiolu’s broader mission to promote local entrepreneurship and bridge the digital divide in education.
The empowerment program, organized in collaboration with the National Cereal Research Institute, Badeggi, and the National Productivity Centre, focuses on supporting small business owners, entrepreneurs, and schools. The goal is to enhance livelihoods and provide a conducive learning environment for students in Lagos Island II.
In a statement from Akiolu’s office, he explained that this effort aligns with his legislative agenda, which prioritizes improving the lives of women, children, and youths in the constituency. “Women, children, and youth are at the core of my legislative agenda, hence this intervention is aimed at improving the sustainability of small businesses and supporting our people,” the statement read.

The event, held on Sunday, September 8, 2021, at the Onikan Youth Centre in Lagos, saw the participation of traditional leaders, political figures, and school administrators.
Akiolu expressed gratitude for the partnership with federal agencies, which helped make the initiative possible. “This collaboration enhances livelihoods and boosts access to knowledge in our schools, which is essential for community development,” he noted.
Beneficiaries received various items, including computers, sewing machines, and grinding machines, to support their businesses and educational needs.
