The Lagos State Government has empowered 100 small business owners in the Alimosho Federal Constituency with cash support to strengthen entrepreneurship and boost micro, small, and medium-sized enterprises (MSMEs).
The programme, held at the Alimosho Local Government Secretariat, also extended support to indigent students and vulnerable households, but its primary focus was enabling entrepreneurs to sustain and grow their businesses amid economic challenges.
Lagos State Commissioner for Wealth Creation and Employment, Akinyemi Ajigbotafe, who oversaw the distribution, said the initiative reflects the government’s commitment to prioritising the development and well-being of residents, particularly entrepreneurs.
“Empowering our small business owners ensures that they can expand, restock, and grow their operations. Supporting MSMEs is a critical part of our strategy to boost local economies, create jobs, and foster economic self-reliance,” Ajigbotafe said.
As part of the programme, 140 households received food items, and 60 indigent students were given financial support to ease school-related expenses, providing a holistic approach to community development while ensuring business owners can focus on growth.
Beneficiaries of the cash grants expressed appreciation, noting that the support would enable them to invest in equipment, expand inventory, and reach new customers, helping them sustain operations in a challenging business climate.
The Alimosho empowerment programme demonstrates the Lagos State Government’s ongoing commitment to entrepreneurship development, poverty reduction, and inclusive economic growth, positioning MSMEs at the forefront of local economic revitalisation.
