Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, has pledged to bolster food security and healthcare through two major projects slated for completion in 2025.
The Lagos Food Security Systems and Central Logistics Hub, located in Ketu-Ejirin, Epe, aims to be the largest of its kind in Sub-Saharan Africa. Phase One of the 220-hectare hub, featuring advanced cold and dry chain storage, electricity, and road networks, is set to be ready by the second quarter of 2025.
This initiative is expected to stabilize food prices, enhance supply chains, and guarantee food sufficiency for Lagosians. The hub will also directly support middle-level market developments in Ajah, FESTAC, and Oregun, ensuring seamless distribution across the state.
In healthcare, a Psychiatric Wellness and Rehabilitation Institute, also in Ketu-Ejirin, is projected to open in the last quarter of 2025, expanding access to essential mental health services.
Speaking during a site inspection, Governor Sanwo-Olu highlighted the economic and social benefits of these projects, particularly their potential to reduce food costs and improve living standards.
Prince Joseph Samuel, Managing Director of Origin Technology Group and a key partner, expressed optimism about the food hub’s transformative impact on Lagos’ agricultural sector and the Ketu-Ejirin community.
