Share

The Land is Life Indigenous Women’s Program is a global initiative designed and led by Indigenous women to empower Indigenous communities across Africa, Asia, and the Americas. The program supports Indigenous women and their organisations in asserting their rights to access, use, and control land and natural resources, while improving livelihoods and promoting the protection of collective entitlements.

The year-long fellowship nurtures the next generation of Indigenous women leaders who are driving transformative change within their communities. It supports those taking innovative steps to advance gender equality, strengthen community well-being, and secure recognition of land and resource rights.

Benefits
Fellows will gain access to resources, mentorship, and global exposure designed to strengthen their leadership capacity and impact. Benefits include:

  • Personalized mentoring from Indigenous women leaders with proven experience in advancing Indigenous Peoples’ rights.

  • Funding and technical support of up to $3,000 USD to design and implement a community-level project.

  • A $3,600 USD stipend to support active participation throughout the program.

  • Monthly training sessions on key topics related to Indigenous Peoples’ rights.

  • Leadership development focused on amplifying Indigenous women’s voices and decision-making power.

  • Networking opportunities to build and strengthen alliances with local, regional, and global partners.

  • Advocacy support to participate in national and international decision-making spaces.

Eligibility

  • Open to Indigenous women between 18 and 35 years old.

  • Applicants must not have previously been Land is Life fellows.

Fellows’ Commitment
Selected fellows are expected to participate actively in all program activities, mentorship sessions, and capacity-building workshops. They will design and implement a community project and collaborate with other fellows to promote Indigenous rights, gender equity, and sustainable land management.
