Meta to Launch AI-driven App “Edits” to Compete with CapCut
Share

Meta Platforms has unveiled “Edits”, a new video editing app designed to rival popular tools like CapCut. With a seamless integration into Facebook and Instagram, the app aims to streamline video creation, enabling users to edit and publish content without relying on third-party software.

“Edits” offers advanced features, including AI-powered tools for video trimming, effects, and content recommendations. With a high-quality camera and user-friendly editing tools, the app caters to creators, influencers, and everyday users in the fast-growing short-form video market.

This launch highlights Meta’s strategic focus on enhancing user engagement through integrated services. By introducing a native editing solution, Meta seeks to empower creators while maintaining their loyalty to its platforms.

Meta has long leveraged AI to enhance its products, from its open-source AI model *Llama* to AI assistants in Messenger and WhatsApp. The addition of *Edits* extends this innovation to video editing, simplifying workflows for creators.

Set for release on March 13, 2025, *Edits* will debut on iOS. It positions Meta as a direct competitor to CapCut, especially following CapCut’s recent availability issues in some regions. Meta’s move could attract creators seeking efficient tools for dynamic content creation.

By expanding its ecosystem, Meta strengthens its foothold in the video-centric social media space, reaffirming its commitment to innovation and user engagement.
