The Mountain of Fire and Miracles Ministries (MFM), South West 12, Ondo Mega 3 Ajilo, has trained and empowered over 115 women with practical entrepreneurial skills as part of efforts to promote financial independence and reduce poverty in the community.
The empowerment programme, organised by the church at no cost to participants, covered a range of income-generating skills including bread making, bakery and confectionery production, cake making and design, pastries, as well as soap production such as black soap, liquid soap, bleach, disinfectants and scrubbing powder. Some of the beneficiaries also received starter packs to enable them to begin their businesses immediately after the training.
In addition to the skills acquisition programme, the church conducted a free medical outreach that provided diagnosis, testing and treatment for residents, reinforcing its commitment to holistic community development.
Speaking on the initiative, the Mega Regional Overseer in charge of MFM South-West 12, Ondo Mega 3 Ajilo, Pastor Andrew Opeyemi, said the empowerment drive was aimed at making women economically self-reliant and capable of turning skills into sustainable sources of income.
According to him, 45 women were trained in soap and household chemical production, while 70 young women received hands-on training in bread making, cake production and snack preparation.
“The core objective of this programme is to empower women economically, help them develop practical skills, and support them in building sustainable livelihoods,” Opeyemi said. “This aligns with our commitment to women’s empowerment and poverty reduction, in line with Sustainable Development Goal 5.”
He explained that the initiative followed directives from the General Overseer of MFM Worldwide, Dr Daniel Olukoya, and his wife, Dr (Mrs) Folashade Olukoya, to intensify humanitarian and empowerment interventions beyond spiritual activities.
Opeyemi added that the church’s Women Foundation, led by Mrs Olukoya, consistently organises deliverance programmes, biblical seminars and skill acquisition trainings designed to empower women both spiritually and economically.
“In alignment with our mission to uplift women within our community, MFM South-West 12, Ondo Mega 3 Ajilo organised a five-day intensive training programme focused on confectionery skills,” he said. “Participants were equipped with practical knowledge, certification and start-up kits to help them immediately launch their baking businesses.”
He noted that the training had improved participants’ confidence, social mobility and capacity to generate income, while also creating pathways for entrepreneurship among unemployed women.
The Mega Regional Overseer expressed appreciation to the General Overseer for championing the empowerment drive and assured that the church would continue to support members through skill-based programmes aimed at wealth creation and community development.
He reiterated that MFM remains committed to supporting unemployed members with relevant skills to enable them to become self-sufficient and contribute meaningfully to economic growth.
