ASHA Microfinance Bank recently concluded a three-day bursary and client empowerment program in Lagos, Ogun, and Oyo States, aimed at supporting education and small business development within its communities.
The program began at Ikotun Market in Lagos, continued in Sango Ota, Ogun State, and concluded in Ibadan, Oyo State. As part of the initiative, 100 students, who are children of the bank’s clients, received bursaries to assist with educational expenses.
In addition, 150 small business owners received eco-friendly deep freezers to support their enterprises, particularly in the food and retail sectors. The support is intended to help traders preserve products, reduce waste, and improve business sustainability.
Speaking at the Lagos event, ASHA Microfinance Bank’s Managing Director, Mrs. Funmi Oladoyinbo, said the initiative was part of the bank’s efforts to strengthen financial inclusion and economic resilience within the communities it serves.
Beneficiaries expressed appreciation for the intervention. Mrs. Odumayo Demola, a client in Shaki, Oyo State, described the freezer as “an answer to my prayers,” while Mrs. Basit Oyetola from Sango Ota, Ogun State, highlighted how support from the bank had helped her manage her household and business needs over the years.
The initiative reflects ASHA Microfinance Bank’s ongoing focus on supporting education and entrepreneurship in its operating areas, with interventions spanning Lagos, Ogun, and Oyo States.
