The Federal Ministry of Women Affairs, through the 50 Million African Women Speak Project (50MAWSP), Anambra State chapter, organized a one-day free Information and Communications Training (ICT) and workshop for women entrepreneurs in the state. Mrs. Ngozi Muo, Anambra State Representative, highlighted the program’s focus on entrepreneurship development for women, utilizing ICT to enhance their businesses. The initiative, funded by the African Development Bank (AFDB), targets 50 million women in business across 38 African countries.
During the event, Mrs. Chinyere Otuonye, 50MAWSP Southeast Regional Representative, and Mrs. Nkechi Obinwa, a Youtuber and designer, served as facilitators, training women on unlocking business potentials through ICT, overcoming challenges, and utilizing platforms like YouTube and WhatsApp for business growth.
Mrs. Muo emphasized the project’s contribution to women’s economic empowerment, offering free training resources on the 50MAWSP App. The event aimed to enlighten participants on opportunities through the use of ICT, fostering collaboration, and networking both online and offline. The training included a question-and-answer session, promoting interactive learning.
The initiative aligns with the ministry’s commitment to empowering women economically, as expressed by Barrister Uju Kennedy Ohanenye during her visit to Anambra State in September 2023. Barrister Ohanenye urged women to form corporations, emphasizing collaboration for economic empowerment. The ministry continues to work with NGOs and agencies to realize this vision and link international communities to Anambra State for development projects.
