MoMo PSB, in collaboration with the Nigerian Association of Small and Medium Enterprises (NASME), recently convened a two-day symposium and exhibition in Lagos State dedicated to empowering nano and small businesses. Held at the Landmark Center Lagos on November 17 and 18, 2023, the event brought together various SME associations, showcasing MoMo’s commitment to supporting merchant solutions and customer empowerment.

Elsa Muzzolini, Chief Commercial Officer at MoMo PSB, highlighted the importance of collaborative efforts in driving SME growth, emphasizing the partnership’s objective to equip small businesses across Nigeria with tailored MoMo solutions for merchants and customers. She emphasized the evolution of MoMo for merchants from a simple USSD solution to a comprehensive application, enabling transactions with or without internet connectivity.

The symposium included training sessions facilitating knowledge exchange between seasoned coaches and SMEs, covering topics such as finance management, compliance, security, and the utilization of digital tools for business expansion. Additionally, various businesses across industries leveraged the event to showcase their products, aiming to enhance visibility and sales opportunities.

Solomon Aderoju, Vice President (South West) of NASME, highlighted the collaborative initiative’s commitment to fostering growth, innovation, and connectivity within SMEs. He emphasized the event’s alignment with the ‘One Billion Naira Youth and Women Empowerment Fund’ and its role in achieving Sustainable Development Goals for 2023. Aderoju underscored the event’s purpose of introducing NASME members to MTN MoMo wallet and products, bridging the gap between innovative financial solutions and SMEs’ evolving needs.

The symposium served as a platform for MoMo PSB to gain insights into SMEs’ specific requirements, enabling a tailored approach in addressing their needs. The event also introduced SMEs to the MoMo N40 Million Grant initiative, encouraging increased engagement and participation among active MoMo wallet users. This initiative solidifies MoMo’s commitment to supporting and empowering SMEs in Nigeria’s business landscape.
