The MTN Foundation has awarded 368 Nigerian scholars annual grants of N300,000 each under its 2025 Scholarship Scheme. The beneficiaries include top scorers in the 2025 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination, visually impaired candidates, and other outstanding students across public tertiary institutions.

The awardees were also formally inducted into the MTN Foundation Alumni Network during the 2025 Scholarship Award and Alumni Induction Ceremony held at the Bola Ahmed Tinubu International Conference Centre in Abuja.

Established in 2010, the MTN Foundation Scholarship Scheme is part of MTN Nigeria’s corporate social responsibility initiative aimed at supporting high-performing undergraduates and fostering academic excellence nationwide.

Speaking at the event, the Director of E-Governance at the Federal Ministry of Communication, Innovation and Digital Economy, Johnson Bareiye, commended the Foundation for its consistent investment in education, describing it as a model for private-sector participation in national development.

“Today’s ceremony by the MTN Foundation stands as a reminder of what is possible when the private sector invests meaningfully in the future of our nation,” Bareiye said. “Education and digital skills form the foundation of Nigeria’s digital transformation journey, and we commend the MTN Foundation for its sustained commitment to empowering students.”

The Director-General of the National Youth Service Corps, Brigadier General Olakunle Nafiu, represented by Delphina Eze, Deputy Director of Entrepreneurship Development, praised the Foundation for its far-reaching impact. She highlighted the over 14,000 scholarships awarded to date and expressed excitement about the planned integration of the MTN Skills Academy e-learning platform into the NYSC programme to provide corps members with access to globally recognised digital entrepreneurship courses.

Executive Director of MTN Foundation, Odunayo Sanya, said the scholarship celebrates excellence, resilience, and purpose. “At MTN Foundation, we recognise that talent exists everywhere. Through continued investment in education, we ensure no brilliant mind is left behind,” she said.

She urged the scholars to maintain high academic performance to retain their scholarships, as beneficiaries received real-time bank alerts of their N300,000 grants during the ceremony.

Representing the new awardees, Olatunji Aishat appreciated the Foundation for providing life-changing opportunities. “This scholarship is more than just funding; it’s a platform that inspires us to strive for excellence and contribute meaningfully to society,” she said.
