In a significant step toward Nigeria’s digital transformation, the National Agency for Science and Engineering Infrastructure (NASENI) has partnered with Imose Technologies Ltd to launch Nigeria’s first locally-produced laptops and tablets. This collaborative project, announced Monday, aligns with the government’s focus on local content, job creation, and economic revitalization.
The devices—NASENI’s Zedon X-Pro laptop and a 10.5-inch tablet—are designed to cater to a wide range of needs for students, professionals, and everyday users. Powered by a Core i5 processor and featuring a 14-inch screen, the Zedon X-Pro laptop offers a balance of performance and portability. The 10.5-inch tablet provides functionality for various tasks, including document editing, streaming, and gaming, tailored for on-the-go users.
NASENI’s Executive Vice Chairman, Khalil Suleiman Halilu, highlighted this venture as central to the agency’s mission of fostering indigenous industrialization and reducing Nigeria’s import dependence. “This partnership embodies NASENI’s 3Cs principle—Collaboration, Creation, and Commercialization—by working with Imose Technologies to bridge Nigeria’s technological gap and reduce import costs,” Halilu said. “We aim to make NASENI products a household name in Nigeria, driving the technology revolution with innovative solutions.”
Imose Technologies’ Chairman, Osayi Izedonmwen, emphasized the alignment of their mission with NASENI’s. “For over a decade, Imose has focused on addressing local challenges by manufacturing mobile and computing devices here in Nigeria,” Izedonmwen said. “This partnership with NASENI empowers us to expand access to technology for education and work, effectively narrowing Nigeria’s digital divide.”
The initiative is poised to benefit government institutions, public agencies, private organizations, and consumers across Nigeria, creating a robust local market for indigenous tech solutions.
Through this strategic alliance, NASENI and Imose Technologies are setting the stage for a more digitally inclusive Nigeria, sparking innovation while promoting economic self-reliance and technological growth in the region.
