The National Agency for Science and Engineering Infrastructure (NASENI) has called on African creators, innovators, and entrepreneurs to embrace originality as the foundation for the continent’s next creative and technological revolution. The agency made this statement at the Genius Creators Summit, where it emphasized that Africa’s future depends on innovation, not imitation.
Speaking at the event, NASENI leadership highlighted how the intersection of technology and creativity can redefine Africa’s global image in the age of artificial intelligence. They noted that while the continent’s creative industries are expanding rapidly, the real opportunity lies in harnessing indigenous ideas, cultural heritage, and local solutions to address Africa’s unique challenges.
The agency stressed that Africa must move beyond being a consumer of imported technology and instead become a producer of innovation-driven solutions that reflect its creativity and resilience. By doing so, the continent can unlock new economic opportunities, build competitive industries, and empower the next generation of creators and engineers.
NASENI reiterated its commitment to supporting innovation through partnerships, research, and youth empowerment programmes. It stated that nurturing talent, promoting digital skills, and encouraging original ideas would ensure that Africa’s creative economy thrives in the global landscape.
The agency concluded that the continent’s next big breakthrough will emerge when creators dare to innovate, experiment, and lead with originality, turning Africa from a follower in global technology trends into a trailblazer of transformative ideas.
