NASME and MTN MoMo Launch Mobile Money Platform for SMEs
Share

The Nigeria Association of Small and Medium Enterprises (NASME) has joined forces with MTN MoMo to introduce a mobile money platform aimed at propelling startups and Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) toward expansion and development.

This innovation was unveiled during the MTN MoMo and NASME Symposium and Exhibition held in Lagos, signaling a significant step towards supporting the growth of SMEs in Nigeria.

Dr. Abdulrashid Yerima, the National President of NASME, highlighted the importance of familiarizing the NASME community with the MTN MoMo wallet and its products. He emphasized that this partnership signifies a commitment to fostering growth, innovation, and connectivity within the SME community.

The initiative aligns with the empowerment fund for youth and women, as well as the overarching vision of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) for 2030. It serves as a platform for networking, expert-led workshops, and seminars designed to equip SMEs with the necessary tools and knowledge for sustainable growth.

Representing Dr. Yerima at the event, Mr. Solomon Aderoju, the National Vice President of NASME, underlined the transformative potential of this collaboration between MTN MoMo and NASME in promoting SME growth.

Elsa Muzzolini, the Chief Commercial Officer of MoMo, expressed gratitude to NASME for the partnership and assured their readiness to engage and address the specific needs and challenges of SMEs. She encouraged SMEs to share their needs and requirements to tailor MoMo’s offerings accordingly, emphasizing the importance of collaborative efforts to meet customer needs.

Dr. Femi Egbesola, President of the Association of Small Business Owners of Nigeria (ASBON), commended NASME and MoMo for their collaboration and suggested ways MTN MoMo could further support SMEs. He proposed the inclusion of business membership logos on the MoMo platform, leveraging SMEs as brand ambassadors, offering various support services like free product and service display platforms, mentorship programs, and more.

These proactive recommendations aim to enhance MoMo’s engagement with SMEs, acknowledging the pivotal role of addressing their needs in fostering their growth and success.
