The National Economic Council (NEC) has approved the rollout of the $617.7 million Investment in Digital and Creative Enterprises (i-DICE) program across all states and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT). The decision was reached during the 140th virtual meeting chaired by Vice President Kashim Shettima.

Under the i-DICE program, State Governors are tasked with nominating representatives for each geopolitical zone and focal persons to oversee implementation in their respective states. Vice President Shettima emphasized the government’s commitment to diligent and committed execution as the scheme becomes operational in the coming weeks.

Highlighting President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s vision for a legacy of prosperity and opportunity, Vice President Shettima underscored the administration’s focus on skill acquisition and job creation. He emphasized the importance of empowering entrepreneurs and small business owners to drive innovation, job creation, and economic growth.

Mr. Shekarau Omar, Executive Director of SMES at the Bank of Industry, presented details of the i-DICE program. With funding from organizations including the African Development Bank (AfDB), the French Development Agency (AFD), and the Islamic Development Bank (IsDB), the program aims to create millions of jobs in the technology sector. The breakdown of funds includes contributions from various stakeholders, totaling $617.7 million.
