The Nigerian Education Loan Fund (NELFUND) has issued a strong warning to students and the general public about a fraudulent website falsely claiming to be the official student loan portal.

In a statement released in Abuja on Monday, the Director of Strategic Communications, urged students, parents, and guardians to disregard the fake portal, which is circulating online with misleading claims that President Bola Tinubu has ordered the reopening of the loan application platform.

The fraudulent site https://nelfund-student-loan-2025.po-rt-al.com/NELFUND/ is being used to lure unsuspecting applicants into sharing sensitive personal and financial information. NELFUND has clarified that this site is fake, and all messages associated with it are false.

The official and only legitimate portal for student loan applications remains: https://nelf.gov.ng

NELFUND reaffirmed its commitment to a transparent and secure application process, assuring students that all authentic updates will be communicated through its verified platforms.

The agency urged the public to avoid clicking on unverified links and to report any suspicious messages or websites directly to NELFUND via [email protected]

Students can also stay informed by following NELFUND’s official social media pages:

  • X (formerly Twitter): @nelfund
  • Instagram: @nelfund
  • Facebook & LinkedIn: Nigerian Education Loan Fund – NELFUND

The warning comes as part of efforts to protect students and ensure the integrity of Nigeria’s student loan
