Nigeria Government Inaugurates Board of Family Homes Funds Limited to Address Housing Challenges

In a significant move to tackle Nigeria’s housing crisis, the Federal Government has inaugurated the Board of Family Homes Funds Limited, targeting the housing needs of low-income earners and supporting broader socio-economic development. The inauguration took place on July 30, 2024, at the Ministry of Finance in Abuja, led by Mr. Wale Edun, the Minister of Finance and Coordinating Minister of the Economy.

 

Objectives and Goals

 

 Affordable Housing and Socio-Economic Development

The Family Homes Funds is designed to create affordable housing, generate employment opportunities, and combat poverty.

 Minister Wale Edun emphasized the crucial role of the newly appointed Board Members in achieving these objectives, highlighting their selection based on rigorous merit-based criteria.

 

Board Leadership and Commitment

Mr. Ademola Adebise, the newly appointed Chairman of the Board, acknowledged the significant responsibility and reaffirmed the Board’s commitment to delivering affordable housing solutions.

Adebise assured that the Board will leverage its collective experience to effectively meet the Fund’s objectives.

 

Key Statements and Remarks

Minister Wale Edun highlighted the inclusive environment the Fund aims to create by providing affordable housing.

He also expressed confidence in the Board Members’ expertise and commitment to fulfilling their mandate.

 

Mrs. Lydia Shehu Jafiya, Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Finance lauded President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for endorsing the Board Members.

Commended Minister Edun for his efforts in ensuring successful implementation of impactful government policies.

 

Mr. Okokon Ekanem Udo, Permanent Secretary for Special Duties emphasized the fundamental importance of housing to human life.

Called on Board Members to utilize their expertise to effectively realize the government’s housing policies.

The inauguration of the Family Homes Funds Board marks a crucial step in improving housing accessibility and affordability in Nigeria.
