Nigeria Launches eLearn Platform to Transform Education with Digital Access
Share

The Federal Ministry of Education, in collaboration with the UK FCDO-funded Partnership for Learning for All in Nigeria (PLANE), has launched a centralized e-learning platform, **eLearn**, to revolutionize teaching and learning in Nigeria. The platform offers high-quality educational resources, including interactive exercises, videos, and texts, for learners and teachers, from basic education to tertiary institutions.

eLearning is designed to enhance teacher professional development and ensure digital inclusion across Nigeria’s educational landscape. It aims to provide equitable access to academic content, regardless of location or resources, promoting accessibility and improving the standard of education.

During a two-day stakeholder workshop in Abuja, the Minister of Education, Prof. Tahir Mamman, represented by Gbenga Odewale, reiterated the government’s dedication to integrating technology into education. He noted, “Our commitment to achieving technology integration in education is demonstrated in our policies, strategies, and initiatives. The Ministry also recently collaborated with PLANE to develop a reference repository of eLearning resources to serve as a central hub for all available eLearning content in the country.”

He further encouraged students, teachers, and parents to use the platform, highlighting that it will improve the educational experience nationwide.

Ian Attfield, Senior Education Adviser at the British High Commission, stressed the importance of ensuring inclusion and accessibility, especially for rural communities and individuals with disabilities, to avoid creating a digital divide. “Women and girls tend to have less digital access than men, so the question is ensuring inclusion, accessibility, and making information available for people with various learning disabilities and sensory impairments,” Attfield said.

With the introduction of eLearn, Nigeria’s education sector is set to benefit from equal access to quality resources, ensuring that all students, regardless of gender or geographical location, can access world-class learning materials.
