Nigeria is set to collaborate with Zander Corporation, a UK-based biotechnology company, in a groundbreaking initiative to transform agricultural practices and restore degraded lands across the country’s most vulnerable ecological zones.
The partnership aligns with the Federal Government’s commitment to tackling desertification, promoting sustainable land use, and enhancing food production. Vice President Kashim Shettima reaffirmed this commitment during a meeting with Lord Raymond Benedict Asquith, a UK House of Lords member and leader of the Zander Corporation delegation.
Shettima emphasized the role of advanced technology in reshaping Nigeria’s agricultural landscape. “There is a critical intersection between innovative technology and efforts to combat desertification and drive agricultural transformation in this country. As a nation committed to afforestation and sustainable land use, we recognize the value of partnerships that introduce cutting-edge technologies, such as those from Zander Corporation,” he said.
The collaboration will introduce advanced biotechnology solutions aimed at improving soil fertility, enhancing water conservation, and promoting climate-resilient farming techniques. These measures are expected to directly benefit farmers, agribusinesses, and rural communities, ensuring long-term food security and economic sustainability.
This initiative is part of Nigeria’s broader strategy to achieve environmental restoration and sustainable development, with the added potential of attracting increased foreign investment into the agricultural sector.
