The Nigerian government, in partnership with the Aig-Imoukhuede Foundation, has launched a digital empowerment initiative aimed at modernising public service delivery and enhancing efficiency across the country’s civil service. Unveiled yesterday, the programme seeks to equip civil servants with practical digital skills to drive technology-enabled governance nationwide.
Delivered in collaboration with the Office of the Head of the Civil Service of the Federation (OHCSF) and Coronation Group, the initiative targets outdated work processes and low digital proficiency that continue to slow operations in several Ministries, Departments, and Agencies (MDAs). The programme focuses on four core areas: Microsoft Office productivity tools, cloud collaboration and communication, enterprise systems, and digital workplace readiness.
Participants will develop skills to improve documentation accuracy, strengthen teamwork through cloud-based platforms, and enhance workflow efficiency using systems like the Enterprise Content Management System (ECMS) and Customer Relationship Management (CRM) tools. These solutions are expected to improve data accessibility and enable MDAs to deliver faster, more transparent services to citizens.
Eniola Olowu, Deputy Director of Programmes at the Aig-Imoukhuede Foundation, said, “Digitalisation is central to building a modern, efficient, and citizen-centred civil service. Through this initiative, we are empowering civil servants with practical digital skills that will enable smarter decision-making, improve accountability, and ultimately enhance public service delivery.”
Olowu also highlighted that the programme aligns with the Nigerian government’s broader digitalisation efforts, including the rollout of the Enterprise Content Management System under the Federal Civil Service Strategy and Implementation Plan 2025 (FCSSIP25). The initiative underscores a growing commitment to integrating technology in governance, fostering productivity, and cultivating a culture of efficiency across Nigeria’s public sector.
