NITDA and NYSC Collaborate to Introduce Emerging Tech Training for Corp Members
Share

The National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA), in partnership with the National Youth Service Corp (NYSC) via its subsidiary, the National Centre for Artificial Intelligence and Robotics (NCAIR), is launching a specialized Community Development Service (CDS) group to boost post-service employability among youth, integrating advanced technology into the Skill Acquisition and Entrepreneurship Development (SAED) program and enhancing a holistic learning experience.

During the inauguration of the NITDA-NYSC Emerging Tech for All (ET4ALL) program at the NYSC Orientation Camp in Kubwa, Abuja, the National Director of NCAIR, Eng Garba Ya’u, represented by Mr. Yusuf Abubakar, highlighted the plan to establish this dedicated CDS group. This initiative is specifically designed to propel Nigerian Corps members into the digital era by focusing on cutting-edge technologies like Robotics, Drones, AI, IoT, and Blockchain.

The initiative involves various NYSC departments including Skill Acquisition and Entrepreneurship Development (SAED), Community Development Service, and Special Projects Departments. It aims to raise tech awareness among Corps members, foster knowledge sharing on technology, and cultivate innovative ideas that contribute to the nation’s digital advancement.

The collaboration is geared towards achieving the Strategic Roadmap for AI (SRAP) goal by preparing and positioning Corps Members to embrace opportunities arising from emerging technologies. It seeks to expand ICT skills acquisition in conjunction with the existing two-week SAED program, enhancing the overall tech proficiency among the youth.

Furthermore, Ya’u encouraged Corp members to capitalize on the opportunities presented by the NITDA AI Developers Training (NAIDT) and iHatch Cohorts, which could lead to roles as instructors and other beneficial prospects for their skill development and engagement in tech-related fields.
