Nigeria LNG Limited (NLNG) has introduced a new category under its renowned “The Nigeria Prizes” initiative, The Nigeria Prize for Creative Arts, aimed at empowering young Nigerians to reshape the nation’s image through storytelling.
According to a statement by the company, the prize will focus on emerging Nigerian filmmakers aged 18 to 35, encouraging them to produce documentary films that celebrate the nation’s identity and rich cultural narratives. The prize cycle begins in February 2026 with a call for entries, alongside the existing Nigeria Prize for Science and Nigeria Prize for Literature, and comes with an award of $20,000.
Sophia Horsfall, General Manager, External Relations and Sustainable Development at NLNG, stated that the initiative reflects the company’s commitment to investing in Nigeria’s creative capital as part of national development.
“The Nigeria Prize for Creative Arts is an invitation for young Nigerians to own their narrative, to show the world our complexity, our brilliance, and our resilience through film. This Prize symbolises NLNG’s belief that storytelling is nation-building, that every frame, every voice, and every perspective matters in shaping who we are and who we aspire to be,” Horsfall said.
She added that the initiative strengthens the link between Nigeria’s dynamic youth population and the creative industry, amplifying the nation’s voice globally while promoting unity and understanding through the power of storytelling.
