The National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) has said it would continue to strengthen its existing relationship with the Small and Medium Enterprises Development Agency of Nigeria (SMEDAN) towards “creating an enabling environment for more corps members in the growth of small and medium scale enterprises” in the country.
The NYSC director-general, Brig.-Gen. YD Ahmed, stated this Thursday while playing host to the director-general of SMEDAN, Mr. Charles Odii, in Abuja.
Brig.-Gen. Ahmed said the Scheme would continue to encourage corps members to develop their talents and skills for self-empowerment.
These were contained in a statement issued by the director, press and public relations, Eddy Magwa.
The statement indicated that the NYSC boss appreciated SMEDAN for its role of “assisting small and medium scale enterprises to overcome poor infrastructure in the management of business operations and accessing financial services.”
He described corps members as “versatile youths with good potentials” that should be helped to develop themselves.
“We will set the ball rolling and we want to assure you of every support that you need for the benefit of the Nigerian youth,” he said.
Speaking earlier, the SMEDAN boss said there was the need for “a more robust partnership with the NYSC in line with the federal government’s drive towards job-creation and youth empowerment.”
