Former President Olusegun Obasanjo is set to commission a water factory project initiated by the National Open University of Nigeria Alumni Association (NOUNAA), designed to create jobs, boost revenue, and promote entrepreneurship.
According to a statement on Monday, the National President of NOUNAA, Ifeanyi Obukwelu, said the project aligns with the association’s vision of empowering its members and supporting the host community with sustainable initiatives.
Obukwelu explained that the factory, currently nearing completion, is being executed with strict adherence to quality in design, materials, and installation. Upon launch, the facility is expected to provide employment opportunities, generate steady income for the association, and serve as a hub for training and entrepreneurship development.
He said, “We are grateful to our Grand Patron, His Excellency Chief Olusegun Obasanjo, GCFR, for hosting us and graciously committing to support the Association and commission the water factory upon completion. His encouragement reinforces our determination to deliver a project worthy of NOUNAA and the University.”
In addition to the water project, Obukwelu highlighted other ongoing initiatives by NOUNAA, including the installation of solar-powered streetlights at study centres across 17 states, a scholarship programme for students, and the activation of the Alumni Portal to improve graduate verification and engagement.
He stressed that the association remains committed to accountability, professionalism, and service while reaffirming that its state is strong, with a clear vision of expanding impact through innovation and sustainable projects.
Obukwelu added that with collective effort, NOUNAA would “deliver more, serve better, and stand taller.”
