Oladele Fajemirokun Foundation and UNILAG Empower Nigerian Innovators with N3.5 Million Grants

The Oladele Fajemirokun Foundation, in collaboration with the University of Lagos Entrepreneurship and Skills Development Center (ESDC), has successfully completed the second edition of the Business Innovation and Talent Expression (BITE) program. This initiative aims to blend traditional education with practical business solutions, encouraging innovation and entrepreneurship among Nigerian youth.

BITE Program Highlights:

Winners and Grants:

  – Father Chow emerged as the overall winner, securing a grant of N2 million.

  – Phoenix and Fladov each received N750,000 for second and third place, respectively.

– Program Purpose: The BITE competition showcases the entrepreneurial spirit and innovative capabilities of young Nigerian students, integrating academic learning with real-world business applications.

 

Key Figures and Statements:

Olawunmi Fajemirokun, Executive Director of Oladele Fajemirokun Foundation, stated

   “We are extremely proud of our effort to foster innovation and entrepreneurship, exemplifying our commitment to nurturing talent and forward-thinking leadership. We are looking forward to the 3rd edition happening in Ibadan later this year.”

Father Chow, the competition winner, expressed gratitude:

  – “We started in January 2022 and sold over 843 packs of our Bread Sandwich in 10 days. I am grateful to God for this opportunity and the Oladele Fajemirokun Foundation; it’s a dream come true to win this funding. With this, we will be able to scale and expand to get bicycles to run deliveries and do more on the marketing side.”

 

Foundation’s Role:

The Oladele Fajemirokun Foundation, known for its dedication to nurturing young talent and fostering innovation, has played a crucial role in the success of the BITE program. This initiative underscores the Foundation’s commitment to creating an environment where academic knowledge and practical business skills coexist, promoting sustainable development in Nigeria.

Future Plans

The Foundation looks forward to hosting the third edition of the BITE program in Ibadan later this year, continuing its mission to empower young Nigerian innovators and entrepreneurs.

The BITE initiative is a testament to the potential of young Nigerians and the importance of providing platforms that empower them to transform their ideas into viable business solutions. The success of this program reflects the significant impact of collaborative efforts between educational institutions and dedicated foundations in driving innovation and entrepreneurship.
