Olam Agri Awards Scholarships to Support Education in Nigerian Communities
Share

Olam Agri, a leading agribusiness in Nigeria, has granted scholarships to the children of its employees and host communities in Kaduna and Ilorin. The scholarships cover essential educational costs such as tuition, books, and uniforms, demonstrating the company’s commitment to supporting local communities through education.

“This initiative is part of Olam Agri’s Seeds for the Future program, which focuses on creating a secure and sustainable future for local populations,” the company stated.

Amit Agarwal, Business Head of Integrated Feed & Protein at Olam Agri, emphasized the importance of education: “We believe education is a fundamental right and a powerful tool for unlocking potential. These scholarships represent our investment in the future of our employees’ children and the communities we serve.”

Olam Agri’s Managing Director in Nigeria, Anil Nair, highlighted the company’s 35-year presence in Nigeria and its alignment with the Federal Government’s Renewed Hope Agenda. He noted that, in addition to scholarships, the company is involved in school infrastructure improvements, teacher training, and literacy programs to drive community development. “We are helping to build a more sustainable and progressive future for the beneficiaries,” Nair said.

Recipients of the scholarship, like Obi Amarachukwu from Essence International School in Kaduna, expressed gratitude for the financial relief it has provided. Amarachukwu shared how the support has eased their family’s financial burden, allowing parents to focus on other needs.

Alhaji Ibrahim Isiaka, the Asiwaju of Ogbondoroko Land in Ilorin, also praised Olam Agri for its strong commitment to community development, noting the positive impact the scholarships have had on families and education in the region.
