A Non Governmental Organisation – Prince Michael Atobatele Foundation, (PMAF) has empowered Nigerian Youths and less previleged entrepreneurs in Lagos state.
In its programme tagged “Beyond Education” at the 2022 Annual Memorial Summit, the Foundation donated hair dryers, clippers, gas cookers and cylinders, sewing machines, textile chemicals, as well as other food items in an effort to support less privileged young entrepreneurs.
The Chairman of the event and Medical Director at the Lagos Islands Maternity Hospital, Dr. Olufemi Omololu expressed satisfaction with the foundation’s charitable act.
The Medical Practitioner who joined the Foundation and donated three years ago believes that everyone should be delighted to give to charity because, despite the fact that things are difficult in the nation, empowering of such is a fantastic step toward being able to teach others how to succeed.
Having lost her son and organization’s founder, Prince Michael Atobatele, in 2016, Princess Oluwatoyin Rachael Atobatele, the mother of the late founder and convener, revealed that she has continued with the charity by the Grace of God and with help from a select group of friends.
She said the beneficiaries were carefully drawn from various skills acquisitions on merit.
“We have the standards of selecting the beneficiaries based on performance, so we empowered the barbers with clippers, sewing machines for fashion designers, hair dressers with dryers, cooking gas for the caterers as well as those in textile with chemical and we hope to do more next year,” Princess Atobatele said.
The Lagos State Ministry of Women Affairs and Poverty Alleviation attended the programme while Adejoke Oshodi-Olasunkanmi, Head, Skill Acquisition Develooment unit of the Ministry, was asked to speak on its behalf.
PMAF is set up to contribute to Nigeria’s socio-economic development by inspiring an entrepreneur mindset in less-privileged youths and challenging them through empowerment with necessary skills towards actualising their dreams
The family established the Foundation in honor of their late son, Prince Babatunde Michael Atobatele, a young, energetic businessman, fashionista, and connoisseur who passed away in 2016.
Since then, the foundation has continued to support prospective business owners who have a promising future in pursuing their goals of improving both their own lives and the lives of society at large.
