Prominent Nigerians, including Yahaya Abubakar, Etsu Nupe; Maurice Iwu, former INEC chairman; Emmanuel Ebok-Essien, a senator; and Kennedy Iyere, founder of FUND-YES, have called for the implementation of targeted policies and programmes to end poverty and hunger in Nigeria. They voiced their concerns and suggestions during the launch of the Entrepreneurship Enhancement Fund (FeeFund) in Abuja.

Key Highlights from the Launch

Objectives of FeeFund:

– Economic Self-Emancipation: FeeFund, an initiative by FUND-YES, aims to promote economic self-emancipation, poverty alleviation, and wealth-building among Nigerian youth and women.

– National Cooperative Community: FUND-YES seeks to create a cooperative business community, connecting Nigerian entrepreneurs with local and international investors to generate income, build wealth, and empower families.

Statements from Notable Figures:

– Yahaya Abubakar: Emphasized the need for job creation and entrepreneurship to combat poverty and hunger.

– Maurice Iwu: Highlighted the economic implications of the country’s insecurity and the necessity for supportive policies.

– Emmanuel Ebok-Essien: Stressed the importance of partnerships between wealthy Nigerians, private sector organizations, and government bodies to support FeeFund’s goals.

– Kennedy Iyere: Described the FeeFund’s mission to drive self-employment and entrepreneurship among youth and women, noting the potential social unrest due to rising youth unemployment.

Campaign and Initiatives:

– FeeFund Global Donation Campaign: Set to begin on June 7, 2024, the campaign will involve public figures, celebrities, business leaders, and philanthropists working together to raise funds.

– Call to Action: Kennedy Iyere called on wealthy Nigerians, philanthropists, and the government to support the initiative to foster economic empowerment and development.

Importance of FeeFund:

– Empowerment: By providing financial support and enterprise development assistance, FeeFund aims to help intelligent and skilled unemployed Nigerian youths start and grow their businesses.

– **Addressing Insecurity**: FeeFund’s initiatives are seen as crucial steps toward addressing Nigeria’s economic challenges and reducing insecurity.

The launch of the FeeFund marks a significant move towards economic empowerment and tackling poverty and hunger in Nigeria. The involvement of prominent Nigerians and the strategic focus on youth and women entrepreneurship signal a comprehensive approach to fostering sustainable economic growth and stability.
