Providus Bank, in collaboration with the Enterprise Development Centre (EDC), has launched the fifth cohort of its flagship initiative, the “ProvidusBank SME Programme.” This marks a significant step in the bank’s five-year commitment to fostering small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) across Nigeria.
At a press conference in Lagos, Head of SME Strategy at Providus Bank, Damilola Feyide, revealed that the programme, launched in 2020, has already supported over 300 SME owners. This year, the initiative expands to Abuja, signaling the bank’s intent to reach more entrepreneurs nationwide. Feyide described the programme as foundational to the bank’s broader SME support strategies, emphasizing its critical role in the bank’s achievements.
“It is not just about celebration; it is about recommitting ourselves to supporting SMEs and expanding our reach. This year, we’re launching in Lagos and Abuja, hoping to achieve even greater impact,” Feyide stated.
Dr. Nnenna Ugwu, a Board Member of the EDC, applauded Providus Bank for its dedication to empowering entrepreneurs. She encouraged SME owners to prioritize integrity in their businesses while highlighting the essential training provided by the EDC.
Participants from previous cohorts shared their experiences during the event. Bayonle Lawal, Managing Director of Onebrick Investment Limited, noted the programme’s immediate impact on his business practices. Similarly, Taiwo Ajayi, Founder of Polaris Power Solutions Ltd, credited the programme with improving his bookkeeping skills, enhancing his business operations.
As Providus Bank celebrates five years of empowering SMEs, its commitment to fostering entrepreneurial growth continues to drive innovation and economic development in Nigeria.
