PwC Nigeria Donates N9m to Charities Supporting Health, Education, and Social Inclusion
Share

PwC Nigeria has donated N9 million to five charities dedicated to health, education, and social inclusion as part of its annual 5for5 Charity Drive. Now in its eighth year, the initiative reinforces PwC’s commitment to societal impact and aligns with PwC Africa’s broader purpose of supporting the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals.

In a statement, PwC noted that representatives from the firm visited the beneficiary organisations in Lagos and Abuja to present the donations and engage with them on their work and impact. The selected charities were nominated and voted for by PwC staff, with funding provided through voluntary contributions from employees and partners.

Speaking on the initiative, PwC Nigeria’s Corporate Responsibility Partner, Obioma Ubah, highlighted the company’s dedication to supporting organisations that make a tangible difference in their communities. He noted that for eight years, the 5for5 initiative has backed charities driving meaningful change in health, education, and social inclusion. This year’s recipients, he said, are making a significant impact, and PwC is proud to contribute to their missions.

Among the 2024 beneficiaries are the Advocates for Health and Rights of Women and Youths Initiative, Cerebral Palsy Centre, Akoka Study Centre, and Patrick Stephen Purple Heart Foundation for Widows, all based in Lagos, as well as Darlez Care Orphanage Home in Abuja. Each charity received N1.8 million to support its work, which ranges from advocating for women’s rights and providing specialised care for children with cerebral palsy to supporting young men’s academic and moral development.

During the visits, PwC representatives interacted with the organisations to better understand their operations and explore ways to foster long-term collaboration. The firm emphasized that sustained partnerships are essential for driving lasting social transformation.

PwC reiterated that its 5for5 Charity donation is part of its broader mission to build trust and create a sustainable impact, helping address social challenges and empower vulnerable communities across Nigeria.
