ROGEAP, Ecobank Partner to Train 50 Solar Energy SMEs in Lagos
Share

The Regional Off-Grid Electricity Access Project (ROGEAP), in collaboration with Ecobank Nigeria, has launched a three-day Entrepreneurship Business Training workshop in Lagos to empower 50 small and medium enterprises (SMEs) in the solar energy sector.

The training aims to equip participants with crucial technical, financial, and business management skills to help them thrive in the growing renewable energy market. The workshop curriculum covers the structure of ROGEAP, available grant opportunities, applications of off-grid solar systems, quality assurance, and strategies for business expansion.

Speaking during the announcement, Tunde Dawodu, Divisional Head, FCT/North at Ecobank Nigeria, reaffirmed the bank’s dedication to SME development. “As a bank, we recognize the significant contribution of SMEs to the economy, including their role in job creation and GDP growth. When SMEs succeed, we all succeed — the bank, the entrepreneurs, and the country at large,” he said.

He added that the training aligns with the bank’s Ellevate Program and Single Market Trade Hub, both of which provide tailored financial solutions, digital tools, and strategic insights to support SME growth across borders.

ROGEAP Project Fund Manager, Salamatu Baba, underscored the broader impact of the initiative, stating, “This workshop is more than just a learning event; it’s an investment in the future of clean energy. By equipping solar entrepreneurs with the right knowledge, tools, and networks, we are creating a resilient ecosystem that will drive energy access and job creation across underserved communities.”

A similar training workshop is also scheduled to hold in Abuja, reinforcing the project’s commitment to boosting clean energy capacity across West Africa.
