Share

Senator Olamilekan Adeola, Chairman of the Senate Committee on Appropriation, distributed N250 million in grants to approximately 5,000 traders in Ogun West Senatorial District, with each trader receiving N50,000. Additionally, 1,000 indigent tertiary institution students were awarded N100,000 bursaries, while 600 students received scholarships under the lawmaker’s initiative.

The scholarship program allocated N200,000 to university students, N175,000 to polytechnic students, and N150,000 to the college of education students. Senator Adeola, popularly known as Yayi, emphasized the importance of contributing to the socioeconomic development of communities and recognized the economic challenges faced by market men and women.

The grants, provided in collaboration with the Nigerian Institute for Oceanography and Marine Research, are positioned as a micro-financing initiative to boost businesses without burdening beneficiaries with loans. Senator Adeola highlighted the success of Governor Dapo Abiodun’s “Oko Owo Dapo” program in supporting market men and women, and he expressed his commitment to providing succor to this critical sector.

The Iyaloja General of Ogun State, Mrs. Yemisi Abas, expressed gratitude for the lawmaker’s kind gesture, marking the second year of support for market men and women through the grant program.
