The Director General of the Small and Medium Enterprises Development Agency of Nigeria (SMEDAN), Charles Odii, participated in a high-level roundtable on the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA) alongside Ministers Doris Uzoka-Anite and Betta Edu of the Federal Ministry of Industry, Trade, and Investment. The meeting, held with AfCFTA Secretary General Wamkele Mene, aimed at operationalizing trade protocols to benefit Nigerian businesses.
In a post on SMEDAN’s official X handle, the agency emphasized discussions on challenges and opportunities for African businesses, particularly innovative enterprises, within the AfCFTA framework. Key strategies were explored to address these challenges and enable businesses to develop market-focused products and services.
As part of its #GROWNigerian initiative, SMEDAN reiterated its commitment to boosting local production to meet global standards. The agency is prioritizing support for SMEs to strengthen export activities, ensuring they become key players in maximizing the opportunities presented by AfCFTA.
