The Small and Medium Enterprises Development Agency (SMEDAN) has introduced the ‘SELECT’ Documents to promote made-in-Nigeria products, facilitating access for investors and enhancing market opportunities.

Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf of Kano State, North West Nigeria, emphasized the pivotal role of Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) in Nigeria’s economy, citing their contribution to innovation, job creation, and economic growth. He reiterated the commitment of the Kano state government to support and foster SME growth.

The Chairman of the House of Representatives Committee on SMEs, Mansir Manu Soro, affirmed the legislature’s dedication to ensuring adequate funding for SMEs in Nigeria. He commended SMEDAN for leveraging digital means to empower small businesses in the country.

Highlighting the significance of Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) in Nigeria’s economy, SMEDAN’s Director General, Mr. Charles Odii, emphasized their substantial contribution to job creation and GDP. He introduced the SMEDAN SELECT program, aimed at promoting high-quality Made-in-Nigeria products in various sectors.

Mr. Odii explained that the SMEDAN SELECT program, featuring about 300 specially curated products, aims to showcase the best of Nigerian entrepreneurship on the agency’s website and social media platforms. Additionally, hardcopy catalogues will be distributed to embassies, government agencies, and department stores across major cities to enhance patronage of Nigerian products.

The program focuses on products from Micro and Small Enterprises (MSEs), particularly beneficiaries of SMEDAN’s One Local Government, One Product (OLOP) initiative, designed to enhance technical and business management skills. Currently implemented in 109 senatorial districts, OLOP aims to expand business opportunities and empower local communities.

Stakeholders from agencies like NAFDAC, Standards Organisation of Nigeria (SON), and Nigeria Export Promotion Council pledged their support for small businesses in Nigeria, underscoring the importance of collaborative efforts to boost entrepreneurship and economic development.
