Director General Charles Odii of the Small and Medium Enterprises Development Agency of Nigeria (SMEDAN) acknowledges and addresses the prevalent power challenges faced by MSMEs in the country.
Odii, during an inspection visit to Wuse Market, evaluated renewable energy solutions offered by Green Village Electricity, emphasizing the need for sustainable energy in identified clusters and Common Facility Centres marked by SMEDAN.
Recognizing the pressing concerns exacerbated by high energy costs (constituting over 30% of business expenses) and increased petrol prices, Odii expressed a commitment to fostering partnerships for sustainable energy solutions.
Engaging with MSMEs directly, Odii sought their perspectives on adopting renewable energy, considering its potential for business growth and environmental conservation.
Instructing Onesi-Lawani Daberuje, leading the Climate Energy and Sustainable Enterprises division, Odii tasked the prompt development of an implementation framework for a phased rollout of the renewable energy project to address the challenges faced by struggling MSMEs.
