SoftAlliance and Resources Limited has donated N20 million in infrastructure upgrades to St. Patrick’s Catholic Primary School in Ibadan, Oyo State. This initiative celebrates the company’s Managing Director, Dr. Bisi Aina, on his 60th birthday and coincides with SoftAlliance’s 20th anniversary.
Dr. Aina, a 1977 alumnus of St. Patrick’s, was inspired to give back as part of the company’s corporate social responsibility efforts. The donation will fund the renovation of four restrooms and the construction of fencing around the school, enhancing hygiene and security for students.
“It shouldn’t be too much to ask for a safe, clean learning space where both students and teachers can thrive,” Aina stated, emphasizing the urgent need to address the school’s deteriorating conditions. He added, “After visiting St. Patrick’s and seeing the poor state of the facilities, I knew I had to do something.”
This project is part of SoftAlliance’s broader commitment to supporting educational institutions across Nigeria. In addition to the infrastructure donation, the company presented cash awards to 42 individuals, including 15 top-performing pupils in primary grades 1–5, 12 teachers, and cultural dancers.
During the event, Dr. Aina launched his new book, ‘JAPA Chronicles: A Guide for Those Considering Relocation,’ which offers practical advice, emotional support, and strategic insights based on his own relocation experience from Nigeria in 1998. The book aims to be a valuable resource for Nigerians contemplating similar journeys.
Dr. Aina also expressed concern over the school’s deteriorating infrastructure, noting that such issues could negatively impact the learning experience. He remarked, “The compound had become a haven for miscreants and community nuisances who used the school for nefarious activities, posing a real threat to both staff and students.”
