Sterling Bank Earns DBN Award for Impact on Youth and Women MSMEs
Share

Sterling Bank Limited has reinforced its commitment to driving economic growth through financing micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) by winning three prestigious awards at the fourth Development Bank of Nigeria (DBN) Service Ambassadors Award Ceremony in Lagos. The awards underscore Sterling Bank’s dedication to supporting youth and women-led businesses, which are critical for economic empowerment and inclusive growth in Nigeria and beyond.

At the event, designed to strengthen collaborations between DBN and Participating Financial Institutions (PFIs), Sterling Bank was recognized for its outstanding contributions in three key categories: DMB with the Highest Impact on Youth, DMB with the Highest Impact on Women MSMEs, and the DBN Platinum Service Award. The Platinum Service Award, the most coveted honor of the evening, also includes a N5 million technical assistance grant to further support the bank’s initiatives for small businesses.

Edward Ogunmekan, Divisional Head of Retail & Consumer Banking at Sterling Bank, expressed pride in the bank’s achievements. “These awards are a testament to Sterling Bank’s unwavering commitment to empowering Nigerian entrepreneurs, particularly youth and women. We believe that by supporting MSMEs, we are not just growing businesses, but building the foundation for a more robust and inclusive economy. This recognition from DBN further motivates us to intensify our efforts in driving sustainable economic growth through strategic financing initiatives,” he said.

The DBN Service Ambassadors Award Ceremony serves as a platform to acknowledge and encourage financial institutions that have made significant strides in channeling funds to MSMEs, thereby contributing to job creation and economic diversification. Sterling Bank’s exceptional performance at this year’s event highlights its pivotal role in Nigeria’s financial sector and its positive impact on the entrepreneurial ecosystem.

Sterling Bank is poised to leverage the additional technical assistance from the Platinum Service Award to enhance its MSME support programs further, promising even greater impact in the coming years.
