Sterling Bank is deepening its commitment to women’s economic empowerment through its OneWoman initiative, which is providing 2,500 female entrepreneurs with free access to the globally renowned Goldman Sachs 10,000 Women online program. The initiative, in partnership with the International Finance Corporation (IFC), is designed to equip Nigerian women with the knowledge and tools to scale their businesses sustainably.

The training, delivered by the University of Leeds, offers a comprehensive curriculum covering critical areas such as financial management, marketing, leadership, and growth strategies. What sets the program apart is its strong focus on practical, real-time application, enabling participants to immediately implement what they learn to improve business performance.

Speaking on the initiative, John Obichie, Group Head of Consumer Finance at Sterling Bank, remarked, “Female entrepreneurs have been at the heart of shaping the Nigerian economy of the future, and Sterling Bank is committed to accelerating their success. Through this initiative, we are equipping 2,500 women with world-class business education, strategies, and networks they need to scale. This is about creating pathways for growth and global competitiveness.”

Obichie further stated that the OneWoman initiative underscores Sterling Bank’s broader commitment to diversity, inclusion, and financial equity. “By removing traditional barriers to financial education and access to capital, we’re empowering women to build enterprises that are not only successful but also impactful within their communities.”

This initiative forms a vital part of Sterling’s mission to promote inclusive economic development, a focus that recently earned the bank the Development Bank of Nigeria (DBN) Service Ambassadors Award for Highest Impact on Women MSMEs.

The 10,000 Women program, launched by Goldman Sachs, has empowered thousands of women entrepreneurs globally. Now, with the support of the IFC and Sterling Bank, Nigerian women can access this invaluable opportunity at no cost.

Women interested in participating can register via sterling.ng/10kwomen or reach out to the OneWoman team at [email protected].

OneWoman is Sterling Bank’s tailored offering for women, designed to provide bespoke financial services and support for female customers. The initiative acts as a one-stop hub for all the bank’s services targeted at empowering women and fostering inclusive economic growth.
