TotalEnergies Launches Startupper of the Year Challenge in Nigeria and other African Countries, With N8 Million Prize For Each Winner, Apply

TotalEnergies has announced the commencement of another Startupper of the Year Challenge across 32 African countries, including Nigeria. This special edition, organized in celebration of the company’s centennial year, aims to recognize and reward 100 entrepreneurs from the continent through three prize categories.

The challenge underscores TotalEnergies’ commitment to fostering innovation, entrepreneurship, and socio-economic development in African countries where the company operates. By supporting the continent’s most innovative entrepreneurs, the challenge contributes to strengthening the social fabric in local communities.

Since its inception in 2015, the challenge has rewarded and supported 365 winners worldwide, selected from among 40,000 applications. For the 2024/2025 edition, TotalEnergies will focus on supporting young entrepreneurs aged 18 to 35 in Nigeria who have business creation projects or startups under three years old, across all business sectors.

A local jury composed of experts, business leaders, startup ecosystem participants, sustainability stakeholders, and representatives from TotalEnergies Nigeria will select three winners in various categories, including Innov’Up, Cycle’Up, and Power’Up. Additionally, four additional projects in the Power’Up category will be selected by an international jury.

Projects will be evaluated based on criteria such as relevance to sustainable development challenges, innovation, feasibility, development potential, and inclusion of women in the project. Each winner will receive a monetary award of N8,000,000.00 (Eight Million Naira), personalized support, and a communication campaign to enhance their project’s visibility.

Furthermore, winners will have the opportunity to showcase their projects during a celebratory event, the details of which will be announced later. TotalEnergies’ Startupper of the Year Challenge in Nigeria aims to empower young entrepreneurs and drive positive change in the country’s business landscape.
