UBA Launches Upgraded POS and MONI App to Boost SME Growth in Africa
Share

United Bank for Africa (UBA) has rolled out a significantly enhanced Point of Sale (POS) terminal and the upgraded UBA MONI App, marking a strategic move to strengthen digital payment systems and support small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) across Africa.

This innovation drive is part of the bank’s ongoing campaign themed Innovation for Progress: Empowering SMEs, Connecting Communities, Simplifying Banking

With these latest tools, UBA aims to offer a seamless and efficient experience for merchants, agents, and business owners, especially those serving underserved communities.

The new POS terminal introduces several advanced features that promise improved efficiency, real-time monitoring, pay-by-link functionality, instant settlements, and a 100% transaction success rate. These features are tailored to boost transparency, reliability, and operational ease for businesses of all sizes.

UBA’s Group Head of Retail and Digital Banking highlighted the bank’s commitment to building secure and scalable platforms that help businesses grow. According to him, the POS device and MONI App are designed not just for payments, but to function as powerful tools that enable merchants to stay competitive in a fast-evolving digital economy. He also emphasized that the tools bring speed and confidence to transactions, aligning with UBA’s wider goal of improving financial access through technology.

The MONI App, targeted at UBA’s widespread agent network, is expected to further empower agents with faster processing tools, greater transparency, and a smoother user experience. It enhances the ability of agents to reach and serve millions in underbanked areas, thereby promoting financial inclusion.

UBA’s Group Head of Marketing and Corporate Communication added that the initiative reinforces the bank’s dedication to innovation, assuring business owners of tools built for speed, trust, and daily dependability. She encouraged merchants, agents, and entrepreneurs to explore the upgraded platforms either by visiting UBA branches or through the bank’s website.

With a presence in 20 African countries and global operations in the UK, US, France, and the UAE, UBA continues to lead with a customer base exceeding 45 million. As one of Africa’s largest financial employers, the bank maintains its role at the forefront of driving digital transformation and financial empowerment across the continent.
