The United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organisation (UNESCO) has inaugurated a training platform, the National Entrepreneurship and Innovation Training for Young Creative Artists, in Ogun State. Situated within the Olusegun Obasanjo Presidential Library (OOPL) premises in Abeokuta, the entrepreneurship center was established by the UNESCO Institute for African Culture and International Understanding.
The inauguration ceremony, attended by secondary school students and young creative artists, aimed to emphasize the significance of equipping young artists with entrepreneurial skills and fostering innovation within the African cultural landscape. Prof. Peter Okebukola, the Director of the institute and former Chairman of the Nigeria Universities Commission, underscored the importance of empowering aspiring artists with both creative and financial skills.
Okebukola emphasized that the initiative is not merely a project but a guiding beacon towards a future where Africa’s artistic talents intersect seamlessly with entrepreneurship and innovation. He highlighted the program’s objective of equipping young artists with the necessary knowledge and skills to thrive creatively and financially in the industry.
The initiative seeks to nurture the next generation of artists who will not only shape the cultural landscape but also significantly contribute to the economic fabric of nations. Okebukola reiterated the program’s commitment to refining artistic craft and providing entrepreneurial acumen, enabling young artists to transform their passion into sustainable careers
