WBAF Announces Winners of World Excellence Awards
Share

Drawing together hundreds of the world’s top business leaders on a virtual platform, the 2021 World Congress of Angel Investors WBAF started shaping the global agenda of the world’s early and post-early stage equity markets for the year ahead. For the first time ever, the Forum’s Annual Congress, the world’s biggest annual gathering of early-stage equity and investment markets, hosted 6 continental summits with the participation of  more than 700 delegates from around the world — all online.

As an affiliated partner of the G20 Global Partnership for Financial Inclusion (GPFI), the World Business Angels Investment Forum, through its World Excellence Awards, salutes those who stand out in imagining, discussing, and shaping the future of an entrepreneurial world.

The World Excellence Awards celebrate high growth and success in the angel and early-stage investment market, recognising the fastest growing brands and acknowledging the founders, angels, crowdfunders and early-stage venture capital investors behind them.

Open to both companies and investors, these awards seek to recognise the year’s most disruptive new market entrants and to provide a definitive must-watch list of the most exciting individuals and organisations in the angel and early-stage investment space.

The international jury for the World Excellence Awards selected 5 institutions and individuals who have distinguished themselves by empowering their local and global economies through entrepreneurship, science, technology and innovation in 2020.

These 5 awardees are:

  • The Most Startup-Friendly Technology Institute of Asia: The National Science and Technology Development Agency (NSTDA), Thailand
  • The Most Startup-Friendly Bank of 2020: Albaraka Turk, Turkey
  • The Country Office of the Year 2020: WBAF Country Office, Bahrain
  • The Best Businesswoman Role Model Demonstrating Social Entrepreneurship: Dr Ingrid Vasiliu-Feltes, USA
  • Special Recognition Award for Global Efforts to Support Youth Entrepreneurship: Junior Chamber International JCI, USA

Baybars Altuntas, Executive Chairman World Business Angels investment Forum, says ‘Given the diverse challenges the world is facing in the twenty-first century, it is important to recognize that entrepreneurship can have a major impact on our future, offering new ways to increase economic opportunities and to foster social justice. The World Business Angels Investment Forum aims to contribute to that impact by driving positive changes that will facilitate entrepreneurship by recognizing global movers and shakers. Fostering entrepreneurship whose effects can be felt in both economic and social arenas is a hallmark of the World Business Angels Investment Forum. I congratulate all awardees for their global efforts to empower the world economy through entrepreneurship and innovation’.

As an affiliated partner of the G20 Global Partnership for Financial Inclusion (GPFI), the World Business Angels Investment Forum (WBAF) is committed to collaborating globally to empower the economic development of the world by fostering innovative financial instruments for startups, scaleups, innovators, entrepreneurs and SMEs and to promoting gender equality and women’s participation in all sectors of the world economy. WBAF invites you to join our global efforts to ease access to finance, promote financial inclusion, and create more jobs and social justice.
