Wema Bank recently donated a brand-new car to Desoor Bags, the winner of the Outstanding MSME Clinic award in the female category, at the 2024 National MSME Awards Night held at the Presidential Villa in Abuja. This event marked the celebration of World MSME Day.

The International MSMEs Day and MSME Awards Night 2024, organized by the Federal Government through the Office of the Vice President, aims to celebrate the successes in the Nigerian MSME sector and develop sustainable solutions for its continuous growth. The event saw participation from top institutions, including Wema Bank, to brainstorm and provide affordable financial solutions for MSMEs.

The National MSME Awards, now in its sixth edition, recognized top-performing MSMEs across various categories, awarding them gifts and cash prizes to support their businesses. Wema Bank, known for its positive impact on MSMEs and women, not only contributed to the solutions discussed during the event but also presented a car to Desoor Bags, reinforcing its commitment to women empowerment and gender inclusion.

Presenting the award, Tunde Mabawonku, Executive Director of Retail and Digital Business at Wema Bank, emphasized the bank’s dedication to supporting MSMEs through tailored solutions and digital empowerment. He highlighted Wema Bank’s women-focused proposition, SARA, and its efforts to provide innovative solutions and resources for customers to thrive in a digital age.

Adesola Adedoyin, CEO of Desoor Bags, expressed her gratitude to Wema Bank for the support, stating that the car would greatly enhance her business operations. The award also included a cash prize of N2,000,000.

Wema Bank continues to establish itself as Nigeria’s most innovative bank, offering tailored solutions and single-digit loans for female MSMEs.
