The Ogun State Commissioner for Industry, Trade and Investment, Mrs. Kikelomo Longe, has once again urged entrepreneurs in the state to register their businesses on the state government’s online portal for Business Premises Permit (BPP).
Longe made the suggestion during a recent training session on BPP automation for business owners in the Ogun East Senatorial District in Ijebu-Ode.
According to her, the Business Premises Amended Law 2006 is in line with the BPP registration. She also said that by registering on the portal, businesses operating in the state could benefit from better data collection and planning on the part of the government, while registered businesses could be reached when there are interventions and programs.
Longe said: “As you know in Ogun State, the law requires that all entrepreneurs should register their business premises and renew the registration annually. Before 2021, it used to be done manually. Now with the portal, it can be done online to the convenience of business operators in the state. I encourage entrepreneurs to go online and register their businesses. It is to the benefit of all if you log on to the portal and process the business premises permit.”
The event was designed to inform company operators about the advantages of registering on the portal and to gather input from the stakeholders, according to Ms. Sola Arobieke, Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Industry, Trade and Investment.
According to Arobieke, automation would assist to end all forms of extortion against business owners and would make it easier for enterprises to register for and renew their BPP in a transparent, equitable, and practical way.
The President of the Hotelier Association, Ijebu-Ode, Mr. Segun Timi, and the Chairman of the Nigerian Association of Small-Scale Industrialists (NASSI), Ogun State Chapter, Mrs. Yetunde Doyin-Bello, praised the state government for the imitation and encouraged business owners to participate in the initiative earlier.
