Global technology platform Glovo has launched its flagship Glovo Academy programme in Nigeria, strengthening its commitment to empowering entrepreneurs and small business owners with the skills needed to scale and succeed in the digital economy.
Designed to support small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) with high growth potential, Glovo Academy offers a mix of in-person and online training sessions focused on innovation, capacity building, and business growth. After a successful debut in Lagos, the programme will expand to Abuja and other cities, giving entrepreneurs nationwide access to world-class learning opportunities and practical tools for sustainable business development.
Speaking at the Lagos launch held at Ikeja Town Square, Glovo’s Longtail Lead in Nigeria, Mojisola Aluko-Olokun, said the academy reflects the company’s mission to create opportunities for small businesses while contributing to broader social and economic development.
“At Glovo, we believe that when small businesses thrive, communities flourish,” Aluko-Olokun said. “The Glovo Academy is designed to build capacity, inspire innovation, and connect entrepreneurs with opportunities that help them grow and succeed. We are excited to expand this programme across Nigeria and continue our journey of empowering entrepreneurs in every region.”
The training sessions are structured to provide SMEs with practical strategies to navigate challenges, leverage technology, and drive growth in an increasingly competitive market. Delivering one of the sessions, Tosin Ajose, founding partner of DealHQ Africa, shared actionable insights on scaling and sustaining business growth. She stressed that entrepreneurs must lead the transformation of their businesses by building agility and embracing continuous improvement, starting with themselves.
Ajose also highlighted the importance of cultivating resilient teams, investing deliberately in people, establishing functional data collection systems, and gaining a deep understanding of customers and their value propositions , all essential factors for long-term business success.
By equipping SMEs with these capabilities, Glovo Academy aims to strengthen Nigeria’s entrepreneurial ecosystem and accelerate the growth of businesses that serve as the backbone of the economy. As the programme expands across the country, it is expected to empower more small enterprises to embrace digital transformation, improve their competitiveness, and contribute to inclusive economic growth.
