The Civic Leadership Programme aims to encourage and empower the next wave of young and representative decision-makers towards meaningful youth participation in local democracy, social justice, and well-being. The program will provide young people with leadership development and opportunities to engage with elected government and members of society to identify problems and co-create solutions that will transform society.
The Civic Leadership Programme (CLiP) will provide five (5) young people in Enugu East Senatorial District with skills to get involved in community engagement and civic roles. The five Champions will help strengthen youth participation in local democracy by influencing peers and other community members, developing resources, and strategic engagement with elected government officials.
Eligibility
They are looking for young people
- Based in Enugu State (preferably Enugu East Senatorial District);
- Aged between 18 and 29;
- With some experience of or interest in youth-led change – this can be in your personal life, your job, in your school, as part of a group or organization or by yourself – they are excited to hear about what youth-led change means to you;
- Experienced additional barriers to taking part in opportunities like this;
- Have not taken part in other opportunities like this before;
- Have a disability;
- Skills Required: Strong communication skills, creative thinking, comfortable with technology and enjoys working in a team;
- Commitment: Available to dedicate a minimum of 20 hours monthly for eight (8) months.
Benefits
The program offers
- All the information, training, and support you need to fully participate – you do not need to have done anything like this before!
- Payment for your time. You will be compensated at a rate equivalent to 50,000 Naira monthly
- Payment for any extra expenses that you have as a result of taking part – this might include things like extra data for online sessions and transportation costs.
The CLiP will be for 9 months and they envisage that Champions will support the programme for 8 months with at least 20 hours of monthly commitment.
